NCAA GUIDELINESncaa

Attention athletes!  If you want to play sports, or earn yourself a scholarship at the NCAA level, there are some basic requirements you will need to meet.

Here is a brief overview on Direct Prospect, but for complete information, please visit www.ncaa.org.

You can download a complete guide that will give you in-depth information about your participation in college sports

Below is a breakdown of the core requirements:

  • 4 years of English
  • 4 years of extra core courses/electives (foreign language, nondoctrinal religion or philosophy)
  • 3 years of math
  • 2 years of natural or physical science (must take one year of lab if presented by your high school)
  • 1 extra year of English, math or natural or physical science
  • 2 years of social science

Earn a minimum required grade-point average in your core courses

Earn a combined SAT or ACT sum score that matches your core-course grade-point average and test score sliding scale (for example, a 2.400 core-course grade-point average needs an 860)

Remember, meeting the NCAA academic rules does not guarantee your admission into a college. You must apply for admission.  There are hundreds of rules and regulations about amateurism, enrollment, and eligibility.

Again, DP intimately urges you to download the most up to date GUIDE FOR THE COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENT-ATHLETE at www.ncaa.org. The answers to most questions can be found in this guide or by:

  • Accessing the Eligibility Center's resource page on  www.eligibilitycenter.org, clicking on “Resources” and then selecting the type of student you are.
  • You can then navigate through the resources to find helpful information.

Be cautious of where you receive your recruitment information from!  Rules and guidelines change regularly.  There are no secrets!  Stay up to date by always checking the NCAA website often.
